Daffodil University to host IAUP conference
Daffodil International University will host the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) Semi-Annual Meeting 2026 in Bangladesh, marking a first for South Asia.
The conference is scheduled for 19–21 November 2026. This is the first time in IAUP's history that the event will be held in South Asia, the university said.
The announcement was made at the closing session of the IAUP Semi-Annual Meeting 2026, held at Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Dr Sabur Khan, Chairman of Daffodil International University and Daffodil Group, participated as a speaker and treasurer-elect of the IAUP.
As part of the formal transition, Dr Khan received the symbolic conference crest, confirming Bangladesh as the next host nation.
"This conference brings together university leaders and academics worldwide. Hosting it in Bangladesh is a significant honour and will further elevate the nation's higher education on the global stage," Dr Khan said.
"Such international platforms help position Bangladesh as an emerging hub for education, innovation, and academic leadership," he added.
The International Association of University Presidents is a global body of university leaders dedicated to strengthening international collaboration in higher education, promoting leadership development, and fostering institutional partnerships.
The university said hosting the conference is expected to position Bangladesh as a key centre for global academic dialogue and further enhance Daffodil International University's international standing.
