CUET Staff Association hosts iftar, doa programme
Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiya said Ramadan is 'a unique time' for self-purification, moral development, and the awakening of social responsibility.
'The holy month reminds us—both as individuals and as institutions—of the importance of value-based living and professional conduct,' he said, adding that Ramadan also teaches compassion and humanity.
The vice-chancellor said it is a moral duty to stand by helpless, poor, and underprivileged people by understanding their hardships. Such empathy and social responsibility are vital for building a humane society, he added.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at an iftar and doa programme, alongside a general meeting, organised by the CUET Staff Association at the university's central auditorium on Thursday afternoon.
Special guests at the event included Professor Dr Mohammad Ahsan Ullah, president of the Teachers' Association, and Syed Mohammad Ikram, president of the Officers' Association.
The programme was chaired by Mohammad Jamal Uddin, president of the Staff Association. Priyotosh Chakrabortty, general secretary of the Staff Association, delivered the welcome address.
A special doa and munajat were conducted by Maulana Hamid Ullah, imam of the CUET Staff Quarter Jame Mosque. The programme was conducted by Abdul Al Hannan.
