CP Five Star, Ecovia partner on sustainable food packaging
CP Five Star Bangladesh and Ecovia have entered into a strategic partnership to introduce sustainable, compostable packaging solutions for the food sector in Bangladesh.
The partnership will initially focus on replacing selected plastic packaging with compostable technology, starting with U-cut bags in CP Five Star's fried chicken franchise operations.
The initiative is designed to provide a sustainable packaging alternative that aligns with consumer demand, supports responsible business growth and drives long-term environmental stewardship.
Senior executives from CP Five Star and Ecovia recently formalised the partnership through a cooperation agreement to strengthen ties between the food business and the sustainable packaging industry.
Vice President Surachai Ratanasuwan of CP Bangladesh Co Ltd said, "CP Five Star is committed to developing our business responsibly. As a food brand serving consumers every day, packaging plays a critical role not only in food quality and safety, but also in environmental sustainability."
"Our collaboration with Ecovia is an important step towards integrating sustainable packaging solutions into our operations, offering consumers a more responsible choice," he added.
Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Riasat Zaman of Ecovia said, "Ecovia is dedicated to developing packaging innovations that support practical business needs and environmental sustainability. Through this collaboration, we aim to introduce compostable technology into food packaging solutions that enhance quality, safety, convenience and environmental outcomes."
Packaging solutions developed under the partnership will be implemented in CP Five Star's foodservice operations, with a focus on usability, food safety, consumer convenience, and environmental responsibility.
The initiative also advances the circular economy by promoting responsible resource use and driving innovation to reduce long-term environmental impact.
Both companies said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to food-grade packaging standards. The solutions will prioritise food safety, product protection and operational performance, ensuring that sustainability is integrated without compromising quality or consumer confidence.
CP Five Star and Ecovia said they aim to set a benchmark for responsible food packaging in Bangladesh, supporting the country's transition towards a sustainable food service ecosystem.
The companies said they will continue to explore sustainable packaging solutions that drive long-term growth and contribute to a more sustainable future for Bangladesh.
