BADC sets distribution strategy for Boro, wheat and potato seeds
The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) has begun a two-day workshop to formulate its strategy and action plan for distributing Boro rice, wheat and potato seeds during the forthcoming Rabi season. The workshop aims to set a clear plan for timely seed distribution.
Organised by BADC's Seed Distribution Division, the two-day workshop began at the corporation's headquarters today (26 August) and will conclude tomorrow, according to a press release.
Field officials from seed distribution divisions across the country, along with divisional and wing heads from BADC headquarters, were invited to attend the workshop.

Participants stressed that Bangladesh's broader development cannot be sustainable without improving agriculture and farmers' livelihoods.
They said timely delivery of quality seeds to farmers is crucial to the government's efforts to develop a modern, smart agricultural system.
Officials were instructed to follow all stipulated procedures, from seed production to supply, to maintain quality throughout distribution.
Participants also emphasised that regionally suitable crop seeds should reach farmers before the planting season begins.
They called for stronger monitoring, in line with directives from BADC Chairman Md Azizul Islam, so farmers can obtain seeds at government-fixed prices without harassment.
BADC Seed Distribution Division Additional General Manager and Agriculturist Md Selim Haider was invited to present the proposed seed distribution strategy and action plan at the workshop.
