BADC, Canadian Commercial Corporation renew MOP fertiliser import deal
The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) and Canadian Commercial Corporation have renewed an agreement to import up to six lakh tonnes of muriate of potash (MOP) fertiliser from Canada in the 2026–27 fiscal year.
Under the bilateral state-to-state agreement, BADC will import a confirmed 4.8 lakh tonnes of MOP fertiliser, with an option to purchase an additional 1.2 lakh tonnes, according to a press release.
The agreement was renewed at a hotel in Dhaka on Thursday (13 August) under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture.

BADC Chairman Md Azizul Islam signed the agreement on behalf of the corporation.
Agriculture Secretary Md Selim Khan and representatives from Bangladesh and Canada were present at the signing ceremony.
The agreement forms part of the government's efforts to build an adequate and secure stock of non-urea fertilisers and ensure the timely supply of balanced fertilisers to farmers across the country under its modern and smart agricultural management programme.
