Akij Tableware exports to over 20 countries
Akij Tableware has expanded its exports to more than 20 countries, including markets in Europe and North America, since beginning commercial production in 2021–22.
The company manufactures tableware at its facility in Trishal, Mymensingh, with a production capacity of approximately 115,000 pieces a day, or around 35 million pieces annually, according to the press release.
Its international customers include Rosenthal, Target, H&M, TCC, XXXLutz, Kasanova, Arc, Alessi, Monoprix Maison, Hutschenreuther and Porsgrund.
Akij Tableware said its customer portfolio reflected growing acceptance of Bangladesh-made tableware among international buyers.
The company attributed its growth to advanced technology, quality raw materials and strict product standards. Its production covers a range of shapes and collections, including Plain, Square, Crinkle and products for the hotel, restaurant and catering sector.
The facility uses German fast-firing technology to improve production efficiency and consistency, alongside dedicated testing facilities to maintain quality standards.
The company said its tableware is designed to be free from harmful levels of lead and cadmium and is suitable for use in dishwashers and microwaves.
As part of its sustainability efforts, Akij Tableware generates around 30% of its electricity from solar energy and reuses approximately 35% of its wastewater.
The facility also treats wastewater through an effluent treatment plant, conserves and reuses heat during production, and recycles damaged ceramic pieces to reduce its environmental impact.
Akij Tableware recently participated in The Inspired Home Show, describing itself as the first Bangladeshi tableware brand to take part in the event.
It also regularly participates in Ambiente and other international fairs, presenting its Bangladesh-made porcelain products to global buyers and highlighting their craftsmanship, quality and design.
The company said its expanding international presence, manufacturing capabilities and sustainability initiatives support its efforts to strengthen Bangladesh's position in the global tableware export market.
