AAUB prioritises AI integration in aviation, aerospace education
Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) is prioritising the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with aviation and aerospace technologies to strengthen advanced research, innovation, and industry-relevant higher education.
The university discussed the issue at its 22nd Academic Council Meeting, held in the conference room of its Dhaka campus, according to a press release. The release said the council members were invited to the meeting.
AAUB Vice-Chancellor Air Vice Marshal M Mustafizur Rahman, BSP, GUP, nswc, afwc, psc, GD(P), chaired the meeting.
Welcoming the members, the vice-chancellor said the rapid advancement of aviation, aerospace and space technologies, together with the growing application of AI, autonomous systems, robotics and data-driven technologies, was transforming the sector at an unprecedented pace.
He said higher education must go beyond conventional curricula and align closely with research, innovation and emerging technologies to respond to the changing environment.
AAUB is placing particular emphasis on integrating AI with aviation and aerospace technologies, creating opportunities for advanced research in AI-enabled aircraft maintenance and operations, data links, unmanned aerial systems, space systems and advanced engineering design.
The vice-chancellor said a modern university's role is not limited to disseminating existing knowledge.
Universities must also produce contemporary knowledge, develop new technologies through research and innovation, and generate solutions suited to national needs, he said.
With this vision, AAUB is working to strengthen indigenous capability, promote technological self-reliance and develop internationally competent professionals for the aviation and aerospace sectors.
During the meeting, members were briefed on the major academic and administrative activities undertaken since the 21st Academic Council Meeting.
The council also discussed curriculum development, higher education and research plans, and initiatives to improve academic quality further.
AAUB members and Academic Council representatives from the Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU), Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), and Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) attended the meeting after being invited.
