Free shuttle service launched for passengers at HSIA
The CAAB-funded service will operate on three routes linking key transport hubs around the airport, aiming to improve accessibility while easing traffic congestion.
The Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) has launched a free shuttle service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to provide passengers with safer, faster and more convenient transportation between key points around the airport.
Group Captain SM Ragib Samad, executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, inaugurated the service at a programme held in front of the airport canopy today (8 July), according to a CAAB press release.
Funded by CAAB, the shuttle service will operate on three routes: Airport-Airport Bus Stand, Jashimuddin Intersection-Airport Railway Station, and Kaola-Airport.
The service will allow passengers to travel free of charge between major transport links surrounding the airport.
According to the press release, the initiative is expected to particularly benefit elderly passengers, women, children, people with disabilities and travellers carrying heavy luggage.
Speaking at the inauguration, Group Captain Ragib Samad said CAAB has been taking various timely initiatives to improve services for passengers arriving at and departing from the country's main international airport.
"Keeping passengers' convenience as the top priority, this free shuttle service has been introduced to save passengers' time, ensure safe movement and provide improved services," he added.
CAAB said it will continue taking passenger-focused initiatives in the future to ensure safer, more comfortable travel and provide services meeting international standards.
Senior CAAB officials, airport officials, stakeholders and media representatives attended the inauguration programme.
