Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has sent 780kg of pineapples as a gift to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The shipment of Tripura's renowned 'Q' variety pineapples arrived through the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria at around 1:30pm today (29 July).
Packed in 100 cartons, the pineapples were handed over by Tripura's Horticulture Department and received by Pankaj Jyoti Das, an official of the Assistant High Commission of India in Chattogram.
The gift follows Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent gesture of sending 600kg of Haribhanga and Amrapali mangoes to the Tripura chief minister and the state government.
Tripura Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Secretary Apurba Roy said the exchange symbolised the friendship between India and Bangladesh. He also expressed hope that the longstanding ties between the two countries, as well as their trade relations, would continue to grow stronger.
