Swift Ansar action reunites passengers with swapped luggage at HSIA
Ansar personnel at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport recovered an expatriate passenger's lost luggage today and handed it over to the rightful owner after proper verification.
The incident took place around 10:20 am on Wednesday, 24 June, 2026, at the Canopy-2 area of the airport.
Oman expatriate Md Shahin Mridha informed Ansar Platoon Commander Md Nizam Uddin, who was on duty in the area, that his luggage had gone missing. Nizam Uddin immediately took steps to trace the luggage and informed Thana Instructor Md Wasim Mia, who was on shift.
Following Wasim Mia's instructions, Ansar personnel began making announcements through the public address system and searched the surrounding areas to locate the missing luggage.
During the search, it was found that Dubai expatriate Md Eman Ali had mistakenly left his own luggage at the airport and taken Shahin Mridha's luggage with him. As a result, Shahin sought help from the Ansar personnel after failing to find his luggage.
At the same time, Ansar Platoon Commander Md Nizam Uddin checked the tag of an unattended piece of luggage found in the Canopy area and collected a mobile phone number from it. He later called the number and spoke with Md. Eman Ali, informing him that his luggage had been left at the airport.
After receiving the call, Eman returned to the airport. His luggage was then checked and found to belong to Shahin Mridha.
Later, in the presence of both passengers, Ansar personnel verified the tag numbers, descriptions and other necessary details of the two pieces of luggage. The verification confirmed that Eman had mistakenly taken Shahin's luggage, while his own luggage had remained at the airport's Canopy area.
After completing the necessary procedures, the luggage was handed over to both passengers.
Shahin expressed relief after recovering his luggage and thanked the Ansar personnel on duty for their swift and responsible assistance.
