Seba Prokashoni suspends operations over allegations of irregularities, corruption; audit underway
The suspension will remain in force until the completion of a full audit, according to the statement signed by Kazi Shahanur Hossain.
The Seba Prokashoni has temporarily suspended all operations following allegations of internal irregularities, financial inconsistencies and corruption, the publishing house said in a notice today (13 May).
The suspension will remain in force until the completion of a full audit, according to the statement signed by Kazi Shahanur Hossain.
It said all activities were being halted "in the interest of conducting an audit due to internal irregularities and corruption within the organisation."
In a Facebook Live session, the organisation's Adviser Masuma Maimur said she had previously attempted to take corrective steps within the institution but was obstructed by what she described as "certain dishonest individuals", including those close to the internal leadership structure.
She added that she later stepped back from day-to-day operations due to frustration over the situation.
Maimur also said she became increasingly suspicious about several management decisions and the financial condition of the publishing house. Over the past two months, she said she had been conducting her own inquiry and received findings that raised "serious concerns".
She further alleged that she has faced personal pressure since initiating the investigation. With legal support, she said the decision was taken to suspend all operations temporarily while an independent audit firm is appointed.
The organisation has not yet announced a timeline for the audit process or indicated when operations may resume.
