Shanta Life Insurance PLC has opened a new regional office in Chattogram, aiming to expand access to life insurance services through digitalisation, simplified policy management and greater transparency in customer transactions.
Nafis A Ahmed, chief executive officer (CEO) of Shanta Life Insurance, inaugurated the office today (27 October) on the sixth floor of AK Trade Centre in Muradpur.
The company aims to make life insurance advice and services more accessible to customers in Chattogram and surrounding areas.
Speaking at the inauguration, Nafis said the company was working to digitise the entire insurance process, from policy purchase to claim settlement. Its mobile app will allow customers to purchase policies and access various services digitally.
The company is also emphasising cashless operations to simplify transactions and ensure greater transparency, he said.
Nafis said Shanta Life aimed to distinguish itself in the country's life insurance sector through transparent operations, customer-focused services and simplified procedures.
Bangladesh currently has 36 life insurance companies, with Shanta Life being the latest entrant, he added.
According to the CEO, the company settles 99% of insurance claims within five days. He said timely claim settlement and reliable service delivery were central to its efforts to build customer confidence in the insurance sector.
"Life insurance is not just a policy; it is a commitment to customers for five, 10, 15 or even 20 years," Nafis said, adding that the company aimed to provide consistent support throughout this long-term relationship.
Jane Alam Romel, chief marketing officer and retail head of Shanta Life Insurance, said Chattogram was a major commercial centre with significant opportunities for entrepreneurs, businesses and working people. He said life insurance could play an important role in financial planning and protecting families' futures.
"Our goal is not merely to provide insurance services, but to earn people's trust through simple, transparent and customer-friendly services," Romel said.
He added that the company wanted customers to view Shanta Life not merely as an insurance provider but as a trusted partner in their financial planning and future security.
Mohammad Nurul Morsalin, head of the regional office, Mantaka Faruqui Aurthi, senior officer of marketing, and other company officials attended the inauguration.
According to the company, Shanta Life received its licence in November 2023 and began operations in 1 December 2024 . It has since expanded into retail insurance, corporate insurance, bancassurance and microinsurance.
The company expects the new regional office to help expand its customer base and strengthen service delivery through its field-level workforce in Chattogram.
