RAB rescues 5 people gathered for trafficking to Malaysia by sea from Teknaf
Although RAB chased them, they could not apprehend any of them.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today (7 September) rescued five people from Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, while they were allegedly being gathered for trafficking to Malaysia by sea.
RAB-15 Cox's Bazar Battalion Assistant Director (Law and Media) and Assistant Superintendent of Police AM Faruk disclosed the information in a press release sent to the media, which added that no traffickers could be arrested as they managed to flee the scene.
Faruk said that early this morning, RAB received information that several people had been gathered in Baharchhara union of Teknaf upazila for the purpose of trafficking them to Malaysia by sea.

A RAB team later reached the spot. Sensing the presence of the law enforcement agency, four to five suspected traffickers attempted to flee the area.
Although RAB chased them, they could not apprehend any of them.
"Five victims who had been gathered for trafficking to Malaysia were rescued from the scene," the RAB official said.
Faruk said RAB is conducting investigations to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
The rescued victims were handed over to the Teknaf police for legal action and to reunite them with their families, he added.
