Python found in chicken coop near Sundarbans, released into forest
The Forest Department urged locals not to panic if such incidents occur and instead immediately inform the department.
A python was rescued from a chicken coop in Nildumur, Shyamnagar upazila, Satkhira, near the Sundarbans, this morning (2 September).
It had entered the coop sometime during the night, said Muktar Gazi, son of Atiar Rahman Gazi of Nildumur.
When the ducks and chickens did not come out of the coop this morning, Muktar then shone a flashlight inside and spotted the huge python.

"It had eaten six of my ducks and chickens," he said.
Muktar immediately informed the Forest Department and members of the Community Patrol Guards (CPG).
Forest Department officials and CPG members arrived at the scene and rescued the python.
Erfan Uddin, station officer of the Burigoalini Forest Station, said the snake is approximately 8 to 10 feet long and weighs around 25 to 30 kilograms.
The Forest Department later released the python in a safe location near the Kalabagi area of the Sundarbans.
Erfan said wildlife, including pythons, occasionally enters human settlements near the Sundarbans.
Such animals may enter populated areas in search of food or due to changes in their natural environment, he added.
