President urges swift steps to resolve RMG sector problems
The government is working to resolve the mismanagement and irregularities that have persisted in the garment industry for a long time, he says.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for swift measures to resolve the longstanding problems facing Bangladesh's readymade garment (RMG) industry.
He made the call during a courtesy meeting with a delegation of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), led by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, at Bangabhaban today (2 September).
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the president on various challenges facing the country's garment industry and sought his cooperation in resolving them.

In response, Fakhrul assured the delegation that necessary steps would be taken to address the sector's problems.
"The government is working to resolve the mismanagement and irregularities that have persisted in the garment industry for a long time," he said.
He added that the government was making its utmost efforts to resolve the existing problems as quickly as possible.
During the meeting, the BGMEA delegation also invited the president to attend the closing ceremony of the 25th edition of BATEXPO 2026 as the chief guest. The president expressed hope of attending.
The closing ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre on 19 November.
