Most of govt’s six-month goals achieved, many fully met: Rizvi
Detailed progress report with statistics will be released soon, he says.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today (14 August) claimed the government has achieved most of the goals it set for its first six months in office.
"Most of the targets set for the first six months have been achieved. In some cases, it is 100%, while in others it is around 90 to 95%," he said while addressing an emergency press conference at the party's central office in the capital's Nayapaltan.
The BNP leader said a detailed report outlining the government's six-month performance would be published soon.

Referring to the government's first six months as a period of preparation and organising the administration, Rizvi said time was needed to make the necessary preparations and arrangements to implement its programmes.
He expressed hope that implementation would accelerate over the next six months.
Journalists would be provided with a written booklet containing detailed statistics on initiatives including the family card, farmer card and canal excavation programmes, he added.
Responding to a question about the BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's resignation after being nominated for the presidency, Rizvi said there was no contradiction between his earlier remarks and those of the social welfare minister.
"Legally, there is no requirement to resign from a party post or any other government post before taking the oath. However, on ethical grounds, Fakhrul has decided to resign as party secretary general," he added.
Rizvi highlighted BNP chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia's political career, saying she had remained committed to the ideals of independence, sovereignty and democracy despite enduring political repression.
He also announced that BNP would hold prayer programmes tomorrow to mark Khaleda Zia's birthday.
