Jamaat-led opposition alliance to march from Dhaka to Rangpur on 19 Sept

Following its recent Dhaka-Chattogram march, the 11-party alliance, led by the Jamaat-e-Islami, has decided to hold a long march from Dhaka to Rangpur on 19 September.
The coalition is organising the march to press for the implementation of the referendum and the July National Charter, trial of the July massacre, improvement of law and order, resolution of power, fuel, and fertiliser crises, bringing rising commodity prices under control, and an end to partisan activities, corruption, extortion, and land grabbing.
A roadside rally will be held at Palashbari Choumatha in Gaibandha at 4pm 19 September.

As part of preparations, Jamaat's Gaibandha unit held a meeting at the Palashbari upazila municipal Jamaat office today (10 September). The party's Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Halim said Jamaat has always organised political programmes to secure the political and civic rights of the people.
"The upcoming 11-party alliance long march is not against any particular party or group. Rather, it is a historic step to compel the government to uphold the people's vote and implement the July Charter," he said.
He said the people had faced "brutal repression" under the "fascist rule" for the past 15 years. The country had been freed from "fascism" through the sacrifices of students and the public during the 2024 July Uprising, Halim said, adding that the country should not witness further bloodshed.
"We do not want to see another blood sport after the sacrifices of thousands of students and people in July," he said.
Calling on the government to recognise public sentiment, he urged it to respect the referendum and ensure the full implementation of the July National Charter.
Halim instructed party leaders and activists to prepare to welcome the long march convoy along the road from Gobindaganj to Dhaperhat in Sadullapur.
He urged activists to help ensure the convoy reaches Rangpur in an orderly manner and to make the Palashbari roadside rally a success.
