BNP MP demands ban on politics in mosques, madrasahs
The Kushtia-1 lawmaker urged the home minister to pass a law banning political meetings in mosques and madrasas.
A demand to stop politics in mosques and madrasas across the country has been raised in parliament by BNP lawmaker Reza Ahmed from Kushtia-1.
"Mosques are the house of Allah. People will pray in mosques, they will read the Quran Sharif in mosques, but a political party does politics in mosques.
"I will request the home minister to pass a law so that no political meeting can be held in any mosque or madrasah," he said while taking part in the budget discussion for FY2026-27 in parliament today (22 June).
The lawmaker noted that just as the BNP and other political parties openly hold workers' meetings or public gatherings on football fields, in high schools or in hallrooms, others should also make similar arrangements instead of holding meetings in mosques.
At the time, other BNP lawmakers present in parliament thumped their desks in support of his remarks.
