PM inaugurates re-excavation of Dharar canal in Mymensingh
During the visit, the prime minister is also scheduled to join the national programme celebrating the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at the Nazrul Mancha in Trishal, reports BSS.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today (23 May) inaugurated the re-excavation of the Dharar canal in Bailor union of Trishal, Mymensingh.
The move comes as part of the government's commitment to environmental protection and climate resilience, according to a Facebook post by the Prime Minister's Office.
Earlier in the day, Tarique left Dhaka by road for Trishal to attend a series of official and political programmes there.
The prime minister's motorcade began the journey for Mymensingh from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the city's Tejgaon area at around 11:05am, said PM's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
During the visit, the prime minister is also scheduled to join the national programme celebrating the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at the Nazrul Mancha in Trishal, reports BSS.
He will also formally inaugurate the three-day Nazrul birth anniversary celebration programmes there.
Besides, Tarique will attend an organisational meeting of Mymensingh north, south and city BNP units at the Trishal Nazrul Auditorium.
The prime minister is scheduled to leave Trishal for Dhaka in the evening.
This is his first visit to Trishal in Mymensingh after assuming office as prime minister.
