No institution, including Nesco, will leave Rajshahi: Land minister
Some Awami govt officials were spreading rumours and creating conspiracies over the issue.
No institution, including the Northern Electricity Supply Company (Nesco), will be moved from Rajshahi, Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu said today (5 August).
"Why Nesco? No institution will leave Rajshahi. It does not matter what any contractor says about where something will be located. Institutions of Rajshahi will remain in Rajshahi," he said at a discussion on the significance of July and a reception for families of those killed and July fighters at the Rajshahi District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
Mizanur Rahman Minu said Rajshahi is his top priority and that holding public office is less important to him than serving the region.
"Rajshahi comes first for us. Being an MP, becoming a minister or being a mayor is not important to me. I was born on this soil, and I will die on this soil. My wish is that you will carry me to my grave with smiles on your faces. Allah has given me a lot of honour," he said.
"As an elected representative, I have many responsibilities towards this area," he added.
The minister also alleged that some officials from fascist Awami League were spreading rumours and creating conspiracies over the issue.
