Jubo Shokti demos over question leak, demands state minister's resignation
Leaders and activists of the organisation took position in front of the directorate around 12pm, where its convener, Advocate Tariqul Islam, announced the demands.
Jatiya Jubo Shokti, the youth wing of the NCP, demonstrated in front of the Department of Youth Development today (11 October), pressing a five-point demand that includes the resignation of State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque over a recruitment test question paper leak.
Leaders and activists of the organisation took position in front of the department around 12pm, where its convener, Advocate Tariqul Islam, announced the demands.
Their five-point demands include Aminul Haque's resignation as state minister, the formation of an independent and impartial investigation committee into the alleged question paper leak, and the arrest and punishment of those involved.
They also demanded an end to politicisation, nepotism, and irregularities in recruitment, and called for appointments based on merit.
The group further demanded an end to harassment in the name of verification and alleged manipulation of viva marks.
They also called on the government to create employment opportunities for unemployed youths and publish a specific action plan for youth development.
Tariqul Islam said the question paper leak showed that neither the current government nor the Ministry of Youth and Sports was thinking about the youth.
"Rather, they are engaged in recruitment business. Even after such a major incident, there has been no statement from the state minister, who is in charge of the youth ministry. His resignation is needed for his failure in running the ministry, along with an impartial investigation," he said.
He also alleged that the government has no plan for jobseekers.
Other leaders and activists said the BNP was rapidly becoming like the Awami League.
Jubo Shokti Organising Secretary Rifat Rashid said, "Aminul Haque became a minister through quota and is now recruiting through quota. If the youth are deprived of their rights, the BNP will face a fall like Hasina. Instead of creating one crore jobs, the government has created one crore extortionists."
Jatiya Jubo Shokti General Secretary Engineer Farhad Sohel, Vice-President Asadullah, Organising Secretary Rifat Rashid and other leaders and activists were present.
