ICT orders ex-DGFI chief Mamun shown arrested in disappearance case
The tribunal has also granted permission for a two-day interrogation by its investigation agency
The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered that former director general of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), Lieutenant General (retd) Sheikh Mamun Khaled, be shown as arrested in a case involving crimes against humanity linked to enforced disappearances during the Awami League regime.
The tribunal has also granted permission for a two-day interrogation by its investigation agency.
A three-member International Crimes Tribunal-2, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, passed the order today (13 April), following a petition from the prosecution.
Chief Prosecutor Aminul Islam represented the prosecution during the hearing.
Mamun was arrested on 25 March from his Mirpur DOHS residence in Dhaka and placed on a five-day remand the following day in a July Uprising murder case.
He was later remanded for six days on 30 March and three days on 6 April in the same case before being sent to jail on 9 April.
On the same day, he was shown arrested in the Makbul murder case filed with Paltan Model Police Station and placed on a three-day remand, which was later extended by one more day yesterday.
