Measles death toll hits 950 as 7 more children die in 24 hours
The latest fatalities were all classified as suspected measles deaths, while 1,098 new suspected cases were reported nationwide.
Seven more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am today (26 August), taking the country's combined confirmed and suspected measles-related death toll to 950 this year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified all seven latest fatalities as suspected measles deaths.
With the latest deaths, the number of suspected measles-related fatalities has risen to 851, while confirmed measles deaths remain at 99, according to DGHS data.

Meanwhile, 1,098 new suspected measles cases were reported during the 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 152,736.
The health authorities also recorded 73 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 18,651.
Since 15 March this year, a total of 133,573 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, according to DGHS data.
Of them, 128,765 patients have recovered.
