5 more children die with measles-like symptoms in Sylhet; toll reaches 47
Meanwhile, a total of 283 patients with measles-like symptoms are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the Sylhet division.
Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours in Sylhet, raising the death toll from the disease in the division to 47.
The information was revealed in the daily measles report sent by the Sylhet Divisional Director's (Health) Office this morning (22 May).
Among the deceased children, four were confirmed measles patients, while the others were suspected cases.
Of the five children who died, two were undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, two at Shahid Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital, and one at Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.
Meanwhile, a total of 283 patients with measles-like symptoms are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the Sylhet division.
Although no new patient was confirmed through laboratory testing in the last 24 hours, 74 suspected patients were admitted to various hospitals during the period.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, a total of 158 laboratory-confirmed measles cases have been identified in the division from 1 January to 22 May, 2026.
