Govt sends 11 DIGs, 2 addl-DIGs into forced retirement; transfers 20 others
The notifications state that the orders take effect immediately and that the officials will receive all retirement benefits in accordance with the rules.
The government has sent 11 deputy inspector generals (DIGs) and two additional deputy inspector generals of the Bangladesh Police on forced retirement, while also transferring 20 senior officials.
The transferred officials hold the ranks of deputy inspector general (DIG), additional deputy inspector general and superintendent of police (SP).
Both decisions were announced in separate notifications issued today (22 April), signed by senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs' Police-1 Branch under the direction of the president.
The officers were retired from government service in the public interest under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018 (Act No 57 of 2018), according to the notifications.
Those placed into forced retirement include Dr AFM Masum Rabbani, DIG of the Police Staff College in Dhaka; Md Shakhawat Hossain, additional DIG of Tourist Police; Md Ashraful Islam, commander (DIG) of the Rangpur Police Training Centre; Md Monirul Islam, DIG of the Anti-Terrorism Unit; Mahfuzur Rahman, DIG of the Police Directorate; Md Munibur Rahman, DIG of APBN Headquarters; Md Iqbal Hossain, additional DIG and special officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs; Shamina Begum, DIG of the Dhaka Police Directorate; Md Abu Kalam Siddique, DIG of Industrial Police; Md Aminul Islam, DIG of Police Telecom; and Salma Begum, DIG (Hill District) of APBN, among others.
