Govt appoints 96 more candidates from 27th BCS after 21 years
The 27th BCS examination, held in 2005, became controversial after the caretaker government in 2007 cancelled the first viva voce results over allegations of widespread question leaks and irregularities and conducted a second round of oral examinations.
The government has appointed 96 more candidates from the 27th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination to different cadres after a long delay.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard today (13 May).
According to the notification, the appointments were made based on recommendations by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission on 5 November 2025.

The newly appointed officers will join entry-level posts in various BCS cadres under the National Pay Scale-2015, with salaries ranging from Tk22,000 to Tk53,060.
Among the appointments, 48 candidates were recruited as assistant commissioners under the administration cadre, 13 as assistant superintendents of police, four as assistant tax commissioners, four as assistant surgeons, and two as assistant secretaries in the foreign affairs cadre.
Appointments were also made to audit and accounts, Ansar, customs and excise, cooperatives, food, family planning, information, railway transport and commercial, agriculture, general education, forest, roads and highways, and public works cadres.
The notification said the officers must undergo foundation training at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre or other government-designated institutions, followed by a two-year probation period.
It also said appointees must sign a bond on a Tk300 non-judicial stamp, committing to repay training expenses if they resign during probation or within three years after completing it.
Under the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1979, appointees must submit declarations of their movable and immovable assets at the time of joining service.
The appointments will take retrospective effect from the date of the first recruitment notification of their batch to protect seniority, although no arrears or financial benefits will be provided.
The officers have been instructed to join their respective workplaces by 18 May 2026.

A total of 1,137 candidates who had passed the first viva were excluded in the second round, after which they launched legal battles.
