GD filed against ex-Milestone College student over 'anti-govt remarks' using college ID
The college authorities alleged that the former student used its identification card to make provocative statements on social media.
A general diary (GD) has been filed with Turag Police Station against a former female student of Milestone College over allegations that she used the college's identity card while making anti-government provocative remarks on social media.
The GD, filed with Turag Police Station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today (16 July), alleged that the student, Rubaiya Mehzabin Suhi, had received a transfer certificate from Milestone College with the permission of the Dhaka Education Board on disciplinary grounds.
As a result, she is no longer a student of the college and has no right to use any identity of the institution, according to the GD.
The GD said a video recently circulated on social media showed her using a Milestone College identity card while making anti-government provocative remarks during a movement over HSC examinations and question papers.
The video is creating confusion among the public and damaging the reputation and image of the college, the GD alleged.
Milestone College Security Officer Muhammad Zahurul Islam filed the GD with Turag Police Station on behalf of the college authorities. The GD tracking number is 91 and the GD number is 100.
Turag Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman has instructed that necessary legal action be taken in this regard. Sub-Inspector (unarmed) Md Ariful Islam Rana has been assigned to investigate the matter.
However, the GD did not mention whether any case has been filed so far over the incident.
Notably, the GD comes against the backdrop of several viral videos from the HSC examinees' demonstrations on 14 July, where students were seen criticising the ongoing examinations, question patterns and the government's decision to continue exams despite adverse weather.
