Garment worker killed in Uttara road crash
He was returning home after work when an unidentified speeding vehicle hit him as he was crossing the road in front of the APBn headquarters
A garment worker was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road in front of the Airport Armed Police Battalion headquarters in the capital's Uttara West area today (10 May).
The deceased was identified as Md Nur Alam, 32, son of Irfan Ali of Molla Kandi village in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur. He had been living in the Uttara Airport area.
The accident took place around 1:45am today. Nur Alam was rescued in critical condition and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 4am.
Nur Alam's brother Md Kashem Mia said his brother worked at a sweater factory. He was returning home after work when an unidentified speeding vehicle hit him as he was crossing the road in front of the APBn headquarters.
After receiving the news, family members first took him to a local hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed the death, citing doctors. He said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue.
