Fake freedom fighters to face legal action: Liberation war affairs minister
During the session, Member of Parliament from Gaibandha-4, Md Shamim Kaiser, raised the issue of fake freedom fighters and asked what steps the government would take regarding this matter.
Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan has said those who are not actual freedom fighters but have been enlisted and enjoying various benefits will be identified and necessary legal actions will be taken against them.
He made this remark today (31 March) during a question and answer session at the Parliament.
During the session, Member of Parliament from Gaibandha-4, Md Shamim Kaiser, raised the issue of fake freedom fighters and asked what steps the government would take regarding this matter.
In response, the minister said that the government is committed to protecting the honour and rights of genuine freedom fighters.
He mentioned, "Efforts to verify and re-examine the list will be strengthened to identify those who are not actual freedom fighters but have been enlisted and enjoying state benefits along with their families."
The minister further stated, "Legal action will be taken against fake freedom fighters if proven through verification."
He added that this initiative will help preserve the accuracy of the history of the Liberation War and ensure that genuine freedom fighters receive their rightful recognition.
