Prof Almujaddade appointed as new pro-VC of Dhaka University
An official notification stated that he will serve in this role for a four-year term.
Professor Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane of the Department of Botany has been appointed as the new Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Dhaka.
The Ministry of Education formalised the appointment through a notification issued today (7 May), stating that he will serve in this role for a four-year term.
According to the official notification, Professor Almujaddade will receive a salary and allowance equivalent to his current position, enjoy other benefits in accordance with the rules, and must reside on the university campus full-time.
It further stated that he would exercise powers and perform duties as assigned under the university's statutes and laws, as well as those assigned by the vice-chancellor. The president and chancellor may cancel the appointment at any time if necessary.
Prof Alomojaddedi, a former secretary of the Dhaka University Club, previously served as convenor of the Biology Faculty unit of the White Panel, a teachers' group aligned with BNP-Jamaat politics at the university.
He is also a former secretary general of the Nationalist Research Foundation and currently serves as joint secretary general of the University Teachers' Association of Bangladesh (UTAB).
Prof Alomojaddedi completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Department of Botany of the University of Dhaka before joining the department as a faculty member.
