4 new subjects to be added to Class 6 curriculum in 2027
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon says further curriculum changes may be introduced from 2028 based on emerging needs.
The government will introduce four new subjects in the Class 6 curriculum from 2027, focusing on enjoyable learning, technical education, sports and culture, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said today (6 October).
The minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists after inaugurating the 53rd National Summer Sports Competition at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
He said four new subjects would be introduced for Class 6 students, while the curriculum would be revised and updated from 2028 based on emerging needs.
"More new books will be added if necessary after assessing the requirements," he said.
The minister also said the number of eligible candidates was lower than the available seats in higher secondary education, which had created complications in this year's admission process.
He said work was also underway to include Nawab Faizunnesa in textbooks.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin said the war in the Middle East had significantly increased gas and fuel prices in Bangladesh.
However, diesel prices in Bangladesh remained considerably lower than those in neighbouring countries, he said.
The government was providing substantial subsidies to keep fuel prices under control and was working to address the global crisis while minimising its impact on the public, Amin added.
Students from all education boards across the country participated in the national sports competition.
