A woman was killed and three others, including a child, were injured after a boundary wall collapsed due to heavy rainfall in Chattogram's Karnafuli upazila today (29 April).
The incident occurred this afternoon at Ahsania Para area under Shikalbaha union of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Beluara Begum, 49, wife of the late Fazil Ahmed and a resident of the same area.
Among the injured, vegetable vendor Md Rubel, 30, is in critical condition and undergoing treatment at the same hospital. The other injured include Mizbah, 12, and Safat, 7.
Confirming the matter, Karnafuli Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shahinur Alam said the incident occurred due to the collapse of the old boundary wall following heavy rain.
"The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment, and the body has been kept at the morgue of Chattogram Medical College Hospital," he said.
According to Karnafuli Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Shafiullah, several people were standing near a house while buying vegetables from a mobile vendor when the old boundary wall of a nearby house suddenly collapsed. The victims were trapped under the debris.
Later, locals rescued them and rushed the injured to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared Beluara dead, he added.
