Dew-drenched mornings signal winter's arrival in Lalmonirhat
According to data from the Rajarhat weather observation centre in neighbouring Kurigram, the morning temperature was around 28 degrees Celsius today.
A gentle chill is beginning to sweep across Lalmonirhat, heralding the arrival of winter as early-morning mist, cool breezes and dew-laden grass and paddy leaves create a refreshing seasonal charm.
The soft morning light, beads of dew glistening on grass and droplets of water clinging to paddy leaves are gradually adding a wintry feel to the landscape, even as the autumn season is still prevailing.
During a visit to different areas of the district around 7am today, the green fields were found covered with tiny drops of dew. Light mist made distant trees and roads appear hazy. As the gentle sunlight emerged, the mist slowly cleared, revealing the fresh, dew-covered landscape.
According to data from the Rajarhat weather observation centre in neighbouring Kurigram, the morning temperature was around 28 degrees Celsius today.
Bablur Mia, a resident of the municipal area, told BSS that signs of mist had been noticed during the latter part of the night over the past few days.
"Whenever I wake up in the early morning, I feel a slight chill in the air. It seems like winter is slowly approaching," he said.
Afsar Ali, a farmer from Barabari union in the district town, said winter had not arrived yet, but the morning mist and cool nights were indicating that the colder days were gradually drawing closer.
Lalmonirhat Superintendent of Police Md Asaduzzaman told BSS that light morning mist accompanied by cool winds was gradually creating a wintry atmosphere in nature, and the change was now clearly noticeable in the early hours.
Deputy Commissioner Md Rashedul Haque Pradhan told BSS that Lalmonirhat, being relatively close to the Himalayan mountain range, often experiences signs of winter earlier than many other parts of the country.
"A mild winter feel is now visible in nature. However, if the intensity of winter increases, preparations will be made to provide necessary warm clothes to people suffering from the cold," he said.
The cool night air and serene morning mist now seem to signal quietly that winter is approaching, bringing with it a veil of fog and beads of dew.
