NCP leader expelled for allegedly raping girl in Chattogram
NCP leader Md Aftab Majumder Joy expelled after arrest in the rape case involving marriage promise.
NCP has expelled Md Aftab Majumder Joy, a member of Chattogram city unit convening committee, after he was arrested in a rape case.
The decision was announced in an order signed by Riduan Hridoy, acting office and publicity secretary of the party's city unit committee and issued today (23 July).
According to it, Aftab had faced serious allegations of activities contrary to the party's ideology and organisational code. Besides, he had faced arrest warrants in eight cases and was a convict of 13 years' jail in a case.

Based on an emergency decision of the committee and instructions from its convenor and member secretary, his membership was permanently revoked with immediate effect from today.
The order also stated that Aftab will no longer have any affiliation with the party's organisational activities, decisions or identity.
Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin told The Business Standard that Aftab was arrested in connection with a rape case from the BDR Field under Halishahar Police Station of the city on Wednesday night.
He was later produced before a court, he said.
According to the case statement, Aftab developed a relationship with an HSC second-year student of the city after meeting her on Facebook.
The complaint alleges that on 14 July he took her to a residential hotel in Chandgaon on the promise of marriage and had physical relation with her.
He later refused to marry her and cut off communication. The complainant subsequently learned that Aftab was already married and had a child.
A case was filed on 19 July under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, leading to his arrest.
