Youth stabbed to death in 'mugging attempt' in Chattogram
Police officers on patrol found the victim lying on the street with stab wounds and rushed him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A young man was stabbed to death early today (28 November) in what police believe was a mugging attempt in Chattogram's Kotwali area.
The attack took place around 2am in front of the Zila Parishad Market, less than a half-kilometre away from Kotwali police station.
Police officers on patrol found the victim lying on the street with stab wounds and rushed him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Confirming the incident Abdul Karim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said the body has been kept at the CMCH morgue for autopsy. "Police are working on identifying the assailants and arresting them", he added.
The victim was identified as Ismail Hossain, 33, a resident of Lakshmipur Sadar, according to police. Officers said they are yet to confirm what he did for a living or where he had been staying in the city.
Investigators said the assailants stabbed him in the chest and fled. No arrests have been made so far.
