Youth held in Feni over harassment of six-year-old in TikTok video
The girl was allegedly harassed while returning home from school on 28 July; police are looking for two others accused in the case.
A 20-year-old man was arrested in Feni yesterday (30 July) after a TikTok video allegedly showing him and two others harassing a six-year-old girl surfaced on social media.
The arrestee, Mozammel Hossai Prokash, 20, is from Maishail in Cumilla's Chandina upazila and currently lives with his family in a rented house near Uttar Silonia Madania Madrasa in Feni Sadar.
The other two accused are Salman, 20, of Paschim Silonia, and Mahfuz, 19, of the Jatrasiddhi area.
According to the case statement, the child was allegedly harassed on 28 July while returning home from school in Gobindapur under Feni Sadar upazila. Two of the accused allegedly blocked the girl's path, held her hands, pulled her and harassed her, while the third recorded the incident and later uploaded the video to TikTok.
The child told her father about the incident the following day. After the video surfaced on social media, the family identified the accused with the help of locals.
Police arrested Mozammel at Lalpol in Feni Sadar upazila yesterday evening.
Later that night, the girl's father filed a case against the three youths under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Feni Model Police Station.
The complaint said the child had been traumatised by the incident.
Feni Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sajal Kanti Das said police became aware of the video after it surfaced on social media.
Mozammel had been arrested in the case, and police were trying to arrest the other two accused, he added.
