Son arrested for killing parents with scissors in Ctg
Preliminary information suggested the accused might be a drug addict or suffering from mental health issues.
Police have arrested a man for allegedly hacking his parents to death with a pair of scissors in Chattogram's Anwara upazila.
The incident took place around 2:30pm today (25 July) at a house in the Purba Guzra area under Haildhar union.
The deceased were identified as Kalpana Das Gupta, 55, and her husband Swapan Das Gupta, 70. Their son, Romi Das Gupta, 30, was arrested from the scene.

Confirming the incident to The Business Standard, Chattogram Assistant Superintendent of Police (Anwara Circle) Mahmudul Hasan said police rushed to the house after receiving a call through the national emergency service.
"Police found that Romi Das Gupta had attacked his parents with a pair of scissors," he said.
Kalpana Das Gupta died at the scene, while Swapan Das Gupta was taken to Anwara Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where the on-duty physician declared him dead.
Mahmudul said Kalpana had injuries to her throat, neck and leg, while Swapan sustained wounds to his abdomen and hand.
Regarding the motive, the police official said preliminary information suggested the accused might be a drug addict or suffering from mental health issues, but neither had been confirmed.
"The actual motive will be known after interrogation and investigation," he said.
The bodies were being sent to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and legal proceedings were underway, ASP Mahmudul added.
