Man accused in 18 cases arrested in Chattogram with foreign firearms, ammunition
Police said that during initial interrogation, Mona admitted involvement in illegal arms trading, criminal activities, and arms supply.
Police have arrested a listed criminal accused in 18 cases, along with foreign firearms and ammunition, in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram.
Osman Gani Mona, 35, was arrested during an operation around 3pm yesterday at a building in Chikondandi union, according to a statement issued by the district Detective Branch today (27 April).
During the operation, police recovered a foreign-made pistol with a magazine, three single-barreled shotguns, 11 rounds of pistol ammunition, rifle bullets, 17 rounds of shotgun cartridges, machetes, switchblade knives, Tk51,000 in cash, and multiple mobile phones.
Police said that during initial interrogation, Mona admitted involvement in illegal arms trading, criminal activities, and arms supply.
Based on his information, law enforcers have also obtained leads on two absconding associates—Hridoy, 30 and Raju, 32.
According to police, Mona has a total of 18 cases filed against him, including charges of murder, robbery, narcotics, and illegal arms possession. A new case has also been filed against him under the Arms Act.
