Teacher dies after falling from rickshaw as snatcher pulls her bag near parliament
The incident took place around 6am in front of the South Plaza of the parliament complex, according to police.
A school headteacher died after falling from a rickshaw when a motorcycle-riding snatcher tried to pull her bag on Manik Mia Avenue near the parliament early today (29 August).
The deceased was identified as Mosammat Ranjina Parvin, 55, headteacher of Bagbari Government Girls' Primary School in Gabtali upazila of Bogura district.
The incident took place around 6am in front of the South Plaza of the parliament complex, according to police.

Mohammad Fazlul Karim, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADC) of the DMP's Tejgaon Division, confirmed the incident to The Business Standard.
Police said Ranjina and her husband, Abdul Matin, had travelled to Dhaka from Bogura overnight to see a doctor at Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital in Khamarbari area.
After getting off a bus at Gabtali in the early morning, the couple took a rickshaw towards Khamarbari. When they reached Manik Mia Avenue, motorcycle-riding snatchers grabbed and pulled Ranjina's bag.
The impact casued the teacher to fall from the rickshaw and sustain head injury, police said.
She was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
"A murder case is in the process of being filed over the incident. Police are also working to arrest those involved," ADC Fazlul Karim said.
The victim's body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
