Hasina, 33 others face Oct 8 charge-framing hearing in Hossain murder case.
A Dhaka court today (24 September) has deferred the hearing on charge framing against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 others in a case over the killing of truck driver Md Hossain in the capital's Mohammadpur area during the July Uprising, setting 8 October for the next hearing.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 Judge Robiul Alam of set the new date after allowing the time petition, confirmed Defense lawyer Tarikul Islam.
He said former state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, one of the accused in the case and currently in jail, was taken to the International Crimes Tribunal. As a result, the jail authorities could not produce him before the court in this case.

For this reason, the court postponed the charge-framing hearing and set 8 October as the new date. Meanwhile, 20 of the accused are absconding, while four are in jail and 10 are out on bail.
According to the case statement, Md Hossain, a truck driver, was shot dead in the Chand Udyan area of Mohammadpur on 19 July, 2024, during July Uprising.
He was returning home after parking his truck in Gabtoli when he was shot and died on the spot.
On 31 August 2024, the victim's mother, Rina Begum, filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station.
Following an investigation, Sub-Inspector Akramuzzaman submitted a charge sheet against 34 people, including Sheikh Hasina, on 23 November 2025.
Other accused in the case include former ministers Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, and banned Chhatra League leaders Saddam Hussain and Sheikh Wali Asif Enan.
Among the accused, Palak, former MP Sadek Khan, Forkan Hossain, and Shahjahan Khan are currently in custody.
