Gulshan flat scam: Gazette for summoning Tulip Siddiq deferred to 8 April
Previously, the gazette could not be published within the stipulated time due to the Eid holidays, prompting the court to reschedule the date
A Dhaka court has deferred the date for the publication of a gazette, asking Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and another accused to appear in connection with case regarding a flat scam in the capital's Gulshan-2 area.
The order was passed today (29 March) by Judge Md Sabbir Faiz of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court following a hearing.
Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, daughter of Sheikh Rehana and niece of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and former Rajuk assistant law adviser-1 Sardar Mosharraf Hossain have been asked to appear before the court.
Aminul Islam, assistant director (general) of the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) prosecution department, said the court has set 8 April as the new date for gazette publication.
He said the court had earlier, on 8 March, ordered the publication of a gazette in the Bangladesh Government Press for the accused to appear before the court.
However, the gazette could not be published within the stipulated time due to the Eid holidays, prompting the court to reschedule the date.
Earlier, on 18 February, the court accepted the charge sheet against Tulip Siddiq and Mosharraf Hossain and issued arrest warrants against them.
The ACC filed the case on 15 April last year against Tulip Siddiq, former Rajuk assistant law adviser Shah Md Khasruzzaman, and Mosharraf Hossain on allegations of obtaining a flat from Eastern Housing Limited in Gulshan through illegal means.
