ACC to probe graft allegations against ex-MP Nasim, Hasina's principal secretary Kaikaus

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to initiate separate inquiries against Ahmad Kaikaus, former principal secretary to the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former Feni-1 member of parliament Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim on allegations of abuse of power, irregularities, corruption, illegal wealth acquisition, and money laundering.

The decision was finalised today (7 September) at the ACC's main office, said the commission's Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam.

According to ACC findings, Kaikaus – who also served as secretary of the Power Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources – is accused of abusing his authority and engaging in various irregularities and corruption to amass illegal wealth.

Meanwhile, Nasim faces allegations of misusing his political power to occupy land, manipulate recruitment and party posts, embezzle funds, launder vast sums of money abroad, and acquire disproportionate wealth beyond known sources of income under his own and his family members' names.

The commission stated that following a review of intelligence reports, it decided to conduct neutral and detailed investigations into the allegations to pursue necessary legal actions.
