CMP issues traffic guidelines for 'Ratha Jatra', suggests alternative routes
The CMP has advised residents, motorists and commuters to use alternative routes during the procession.
The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) will impose temporary traffic restrictions on several key roads across the city tomorrow (16 July) to facilitate the Ratha Jatra, one of the major religious festivals of the Hindu community.

In a press release issued this morning, the CMP said three major Ratha Jatra processions will pass through different parts of the city, with traffic diversions and control measures in place from 2pm to ensure the event is held safely and smoothly.
According to the CMP, separate processions will be organised by Sri Sri Tulshidham, Sri Sri Radha Madhava Temple (Iskcon), Nandan Kanan, and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), Probortok.
Roadblocks and traffic diversions will be put in place at Badsha Mia Road, WASA intersection, Stadium roundabout (Radisson Blu area), Naval intersection, Noor Ahmed Road, Enayet Bazar intersection, Tinpool intersection, New Market, Alkaran Road near the GPO, Kotwali intersection, the northern side of Laldighi, Cinema Palace, Andarkilla intersection, Goods Hill, Gani Bakery and Sarson Road. Traffic along the Ratha Jatra routes will remain restricted during the processions.
The procession from Sri Sri Tulshidham will begin at Tulshidham and travel through Rifle Club, New Market, Kotwali intersection, Laldighi, Nabagraha Bari, Bakshir Bit, Andarkilla, Cheragi Pahar, Press Club, Kazir Dewri, Love Lane, the Buddhist Temple and Nandan Kanan before returning to Tulshidham.
The Ratha Jatra organised by Sri Sri Radha Madhava Temple, Nandan Kanan, will start from DC Hill and proceed through Cheragi Pahar, Andarkilla, Laldighi, Kotwali intersection, New Market, Amtola and Bose Brothers intersection before ending at Nandan Kanan.
Meanwhile, the procession organised by Iskcon, Probortok, will begin at Probortok Sri Krishna Temple and pass through Mimi Super Market, Probortok intersection, Gol Pahar intersection, Mehedibagh, Chatteshwari intersection, Kazir Dewri, Jamal Khan, Cheragi Pahar, Andarkilla, Boxir Bit, Laldighi, Kotwali intersection, Cinema Palace, Bose Brothers intersection and DC Hill.
The CMP urged city residents, drivers and passengers to avoid the affected roads as far as possible and use alternative routes. It also sought public cooperation to ensure the festival is held peacefully and in an orderly manner.
