BGB foils BSF push-in attempt at Kushtia border
Four people were taken back into India after BGB personnel blocked the attempt, according to the border force.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) foiled an attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push four people into Bangladesh through the Thotarpara border in Kushtia's Daulatpur upazila today (11 October).
The incident occurred around 7am in the area under the Thotarpara Border Observation Post (BOP) of the 47 BGB Battalion, according to a BGB press release.
BSF personnel from the Uday Kishan camp of the force's 146th Battalion allegedly attempted to push two men and two women into Bangladesh from a point about 50 yards inside India, near border pillar 153/9-S, the release said.
BGB personnel on duty took up a defensive position and moved to prevent the attempted push-in. They remained alert for about an hour before the BSF personnel returned to Indian territory with the four people around 8am, according to the release.
Rashed Kamal Rony, commander of the 47 BGB Battalion, said the force remained vigilant and prepared to prevent illegal entry and violations of border regulations.
He added that BGB personnel were continuing their efforts to maintain border security and respond to any untoward incidents.
