BCTI to launch training courses for July injured
Instruction will be offered in five areas: basic film, film editing, set design, screenwriting, and documentary filmmaking
The Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI) is preparing to launch training courses for those injured in the July uprising, following an announcement by Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam.
BCTI Chief Executive Abul Kalam Mohammad Shamsuddin said the institute's primary role is to train aspiring professionals in film and television.
He noted that this time, 200 participants from among the July injured will be enrolled for free in two phases to receive training in different areas of filmmaking, according to a press release.
The courses will be conducted on a non‑residential basis, as the institute does not yet have accommodation facilities. Classes will run daily from 9am to 5pm, with each course lasting four weeks. Two batches will be trained, covering a total of 200 participants. Depending on requirements, the duration of some courses may be extended to five weeks. Training is expected to begin next week.
In this phase, instruction will be offered in five areas: basic film, film editing, set design, screenwriting, and documentary filmmaking. Each course will accommodate 20 participants and will be held twice to cover the full intake.
Applicants must provide an HSC certificate, a national identity card, official recognition as a July injured participant, and recent photographs.
The selection process for trainees has already begun from the official list of July injured individuals.
