Gazipur DC suspends all Kashimpur land office staff over irregularities

All four officials and employees of the Kashimpur Union Land Office in Gazipur have been suspended after primary evidence of irregularities, inefficiency, negligence of duty and the use of middlemen in service delivery was found during a surprise inspection.

Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan ordered the suspensions this morning (3 August) after an unannounced inspection of the office.

The suspended officials are Union Land Assistant Officer Wazed Ali Khan and office assistants Mostafa Kamal, Safiqul Islam Khan and Abdul Halim.

According to officials present during the inspection, the deputy commissioner reviewed office records and spoke directly with people who had come to receive services.

During the visit, he found discrepancies in official documents, a large number of pending applications and two staff members absent from duty. Several service recipients also raised complaints about delays and irregularities.

When asked to explain the complaints and discrepancies, the officials concerned failed to provide satisfactory answers, prompting the deputy commissioner to order the temporary suspension of the four staff members.

Speaking to journalists after the inspection, Nurul Karim said the officials and employees at the office were "not fit for the job" and were not performing their duties in accordance with the rules.

He said complaints had been received from many service recipients and that the inspection found evidence of inefficiency, incompetence and irregularities.

"The officials could not explain the complaints, produce the necessary documents or show the mutation software. Preliminary evidence of irregularities has been found, so they have been temporarily suspended. Appropriate legal action will be taken after a detailed investigation into the allegations," he said.

After the inspection at Kashimpur, the deputy commissioner visited another land office in Sofipur under Kaliakair, where he instructed officials to ensure transparency, accountability and faster land services.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md Sohel Rana, Gazipur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sajjad Hossain, Executive Magistrate Arif Hossain and other officials accompanied him during the inspections.

According to the district administration, the deputy commissioner has been conducting surprise inspections of land offices across the district since assuming office to improve land services, and the drives will continue.
