87% July martyrs died from bullet wounds, 5% beaten to death: MSF
The survey was conducted on a total of 12,435 family members of those injured and killed in the July protests
About 87% of those killed in the July protests died from being hit by bullets, according to a survey by the Human Rights Culture Foundation (MSF).
Besides, 5% of the uprising martyrs were beaten to death, while 7.83% died from burn wounds, MSF official Noornabi Shanto said, citing the survey data, at an event at the National Press Club in Dhaka today (27 February).
The survey was conducted on a total of 12,435 family members of those injured and killed in the July protests, according to MSF.
The survey revealed information on 881 deaths.
Of these, 765 (86.83%) died from gunshot wounds and 69 (7.83%) from burns.
In addition, 45 (5.11%) were beaten to death, as per the survey report.
The report also states that one man 1 (0.11%) was stabbed to death and another died after being hit by a brick.
The survey also states that among the deceased, 64.47% were students. In addition, 18.62% were workers, 9.65% were small businessmen, 2.61% were private sector employees, 1.02% were farmers, 68% were teachers, and 57% were doctors.
The rest were working in various professions.
