40kg Olive Ridley sea turtle washes ashore in Kuakata
Coastal Environment Protection Movement joint convenor said the repeated deaths of marine animals in this manner are extremely alarming.
An Olive Ridley sea turtle weighing approximately 40 kg washed ashore on Kuakata beach in Patuakhali today (15 April).
The mother turtle was carried in by the tide at around 6am near the Kawarchar Jhaubon Sunrise Point area, confirmed Moniruzzaman, an official of the Mahipur range forest department.
Moniruzzaman said, "We are taking the incident seriously. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the turtle's death, and monitoring efforts will be strengthened to prevent such occurrences in the future."

Abul Hossain Raju, joint convener of the Coastal Environment Protection Movement, stated that the repeated deaths of marine animals in this manner are extremely alarming.
He emphasised the urgent need for effective and coordinated measures to protect the coastal environment.
Members of the Dolphin Conservation Committee, the forest department, and local volunteer organisations jointly buried the dead turtle.
