3 recruiting agencies lose licences over fraudulent recruitment of 30 Bangladeshis to Russia
The agencies are RS International (RL-1428), Jabal-E-Noor (RL-2505) and TS Overseas Limited (RL-1755).
A total of 30 Bangladeshi youths were allegedly sent to Russia through fraudulent promises of high salaries and various benefits, following which the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment revoked the licences and confiscated the security deposits of three recruiting agencies.
The action was taken yesterday (1 June) on the instructions of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury, according to a ministry press release.
The agencies are RS International (RL-1428), Jabal-E-Noor (RL-2505) and TS Overseas Limited (RL-1755).
In the release, the minister issued a strong warning, saying no individual, group, organisation or syndicate involved in endangering the lives of Bangladeshi citizens and sending them abroad through fraudulent means would be spared.
He said the overseas employment sector would not be allowed to suffer because of the dishonesty of any agency and that monitoring would be further strengthened to prevent such offences in the future.
The minister also said effective measures were being taken through diplomatic channels to ensure the swift and safe return of the 30 Bangladeshis sent to Russia through fraudulent means.
He said he had already spoken directly with the Bangladesh ambassador in Moscow and instructed him to ensure all necessary measures for the protection of the victims.
The ministry also urged prospective migrant workers to properly verify the legitimacy of recruiting agencies and the terms and conditions of employment before entering into any financial transactions with them.
