The condition of three out of the eight Bangladeshis injured in the devastating fire in a hotel in Delhi is critical, the country's high commission in New Delhi said today (4 June), citing doctors attending on them.
Indian authorities are trying their best to take care of the injured Bangladeshis undergoing treatment in different hospitals. The diplomatic mission is constantly monitoring their condition.
The hospital authorities have asked the kin of the injured in hospitals to avoid direct physical contact with the patients due to fear of infection.
The blaze tore through a hotel operating without a fire NOC in a congested bylane in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar area yesterday (3 June), killing at least 21 people, including 12 foreigners whose relatives were being treated in hospitals nearby.
The fire at the Flourish Stay B&B hotel in Hauz Rani in Malviya Nagar quickly spread through the five-floor building that had only one entry-exit point, permanently sealed windows and a sensor-operated main door, officials said. Factors which combined to turn the building into a virtual death trap.
The flames raged, catching everybody unaware and some in their sleep.
The owner of the hotel has been arrested and a case has been filed against him on the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
